I checked the Kelly blue book value of the '86 Savage. The Retail price is $1015 so considering the very low miles on your bike I think you got a good deal. I also think you will enjoy this bike a great deal after riding 4 cylinder bikes. I know you will when it comes time to adjust the carb.
I owned an '87 Savage and put 30,000+ miles on it in three years. I just bought a '96 Savage with 5400 miles for my wife, the price was $3200 but I talked the dealer into giving me $975 for my '82 Yamaha 550 Maxim so I thought I did well.
